The moderator’s role is to help maintain control of the virtual room by interjecting as needed.Your connection is only encrypted between you and the service provider.

When necessary, talk about confidential data, but do not directly share it.Check your participant list during the meeting.In this case, enabling the waiting room serves as a second layer of security in that you (or a moderator) can admit only those you wish to allow to participate. Also note, that if you share your meeting room link with the password embedded on public websites or social media, unwanted individuals could still get in. Do not post these passwords on public websites or social media.Passwords are on by default for all MSU Zoom meetings.Learn more about attendee controls in a meeting.

You will join the Zoom test meeting as an attendee.

Click Join with Computer Audio to join the test meeting with the selected microphone and speakers.

If you don't hear an audio reply, use the drop-down menu or click No to switch microphones until you hear the replay. Click Yes when you hear the replay.

If you don't hear the ringtone, use the drop-down menu or click No to switch speakers until you hear the ringtone. Click Yes to continue to the microphone test.

The Zoom test meeting will display a pop-up window to test your speakers.

If you cannot download or run the Zoom desktop client on your computer, click join from your browser.

If you don't have the Zoom desktop client installed on your computer, click download and run Zoom to download, install, and then run Zoom.

If you have the Zoom desktop client installed on your computer, click Open to launch Zoom.

Note: If you are using the Zoom mobile app, you can visit to join a test meeting, then follow the instructions to test your video or audio. If you don't have time before joining, you can also test your video or audio while in a Zoom meeting. Within your test meeting, you have the ability to check your internet connection, familiarize yourself with Zoom's video conferencing features, and adjust your audio and video before joining the meeting.
